New Stuff

I got my new lens delivered yesterday afternoon.  This is the one I bought as salvage from Fireman's Fund and it was not working.  Paid $50 for it wit the hood and hard case.  Tried to get Canon to fix it, but, they said it was too old and they could not get parts.

They did give me a name of an authorized repair shop in Chicago.  I sent it off to them about 6 weeks ago.  Luckily, they were able to get the parts delivered from Japan before the earthquake.

I still need to play with it more.  It is a 300mm fixed focal length lens.  I added my 2x converter and make it a 600 mm lens.  Works great in low light as it goes down to 2.8 on the f-stop.  It is a heavy bastard weighing in at 6 pounds.

Flowers, Ducks and Color

I keep creeping closer to the Wood Ducks, but, they are still very wary of me and Bogey.
Need some sunshine to get the color started.
Maybe tomorrow when the ball season opens it will break loose.

A couple of Red Tailed Hawks are building a nest almost directly over the hideout.

Gray Day

All the snow has melted and the skies are cloudy and gray.  Saw a few birds yesterday.  Spring is only a few days away.  All we need is the sun to make it happen.

Wintry Birthday

Yesterday was my birthday and just like the day I was born in 1955, we had a substantial snowstorm in St. Louis.  Back in 1955, the low temperature was 5 degrees and that low still remains the record for that date.
Lots of sunshine today and the snow will be gone very quickly.

The flooded woods down at the park present a stark contrast.  White snow on the dark limbs over the almost black water.  Very peaceful.
